CURRICULUM

The primary focus of ArrowPath Archery Academy is to provide a solid foundation for Archery. There is a wealth of knowledge that is to be obtained in Archery. Archery is not based on simply just picking up a bow, shooting an arrow, and getting lucky. We control our shots, we control ourselves, and build a level of consistency that translates into our personal lives, and in our relationships. These principles are key in creating a true Archer. Archery is a life-long journey of being the best version of oneself. ArrowPath's Curriculum emphasizes these lessons methodically and patiently. The best scores are not achieved through rushing the process, but rather applying the principles to personal lives and relationships as well.

The curriculum is set-up to create a well rounded, conditioned athlete for the sport of Archery. As students progress, they grow with the demand of the sport. To the naked eye, or for those who do not participate in the sport, it may appear that all athletes do in the sport is stand in place and shoot arrows. This is far from the truth. Archery requires a level of mental focus that is accompanied by physical conditioning as well.

Below is a baseline example of what is to be expected during typical sessions.

WARM UP (15 minutes):

Archers will begin session with Dynamic Stretching and General Aerobic activities. During this time, Archers will review the range rules and the standard shooting commands.

PROCEDURAL PRACTICE  (10 Minutes):

Archers will demonstrate the five core beginner steps with a stretch bands and bow along with whistle commands utilizing stretch bands or they will do visualization exercises to strengthen mental acuity.

EQUIPMENT SAFETY CHECK (5 Minutes):

Archers are expected to have their own approved equipment. The reason for this is because one should continuously be understanding the nomenclature and becoming familiar with their equipment at home.

DEMONSTRATION OF COMPETENCY (15 Minutes):

Archers will begin shooting rounds with live arrows. They will begin with one arrow and go back to shooting line. Next round they will do 2 arrows and return to shooting line. 3rd round they will shoot 3 arrows and return to shooting line. THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THIS PERIOD IS TO ENSURE ARCHERS ARE FOCUSING MAINLY ON THEIR FORM AND THE STEPS OF SHOOTING. THERE WILL BE NO TARGET FACE DURING THIS PERIOD,

PERFORM (20 Minutes):

Target face will be introduced. Archers will shoot 6 arrows a piece per round. In between rounds feedback will be provided regarding form, shot placement, overall performance. Each arrow shot will be guided by whistle to ensure ensure uniformity and equal coaching opportunities.

CLEAN UP/HUDDLE/ROUND TABLE (5 minutes):

Instructor and Archers gather all equipment utilized and organize, and conduct preventative maintenance during this time. They will huddle around and have open discussion around what they felt and saw during their session. They will discuss things they did well, and areas of improvement for the upcoming session.
